Form Follows Music

audiovisual project

2011

Organ music visualizing project and an Interactive performace as my final exam project at KABK. Can we see the music and hear the image? I created visual language, which is based on a knowledge of existing musical rules. During my research I made many visual experiments to achieve my own and subjective vision of how music should look like. Part of the project was an interactive animation which was connected to my music. When I was writing my music, I was influenced by the visual process. It also worked opposite way – the visual part of my project was influenced by my music. I made a performance in Duitse Kerk in Den Haag, where I played my own musical improvisation on the organ. The sound was recorded and at the same time transformed into an animation, which was projected on the walls of the church. During the performance, I was partly controlling the visual outcome as well while playing the organ. In the animation, the sound qualities (pitch, duration and amplitude) were represented by different values of image.

Vizualizace varhanní hudby a interaktivní performance jako můj závěrečný projekt na KABK.
